Mini Olympics registration begins in January
Manama : The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has started its preparations for the fifth edition of the School Mini Olympics, to be organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, in March 2018.
Registration will begin on January 25, while deadline has been scheduled for February 5. The first technical meeting is confirmed to take place on March 1.
Students from 38 government and private schools are expected to compete in a variety of sports during this year’s event, to be held for the fifth successive year.
There will be 22 sports events lined up this year, including tennis, cycling, sailing, open water swimming, badminton, fencing, judo and karate, to name a few.
A preparatory meeting with representatives of the participating government and private schools, headed by Lounes Madene, will look into latest arrangements and preparations for the festivities.
The event is held under the patronage of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president.
