Bahraini fighters proceed to semis
Manama : A number of Bahriani fighters advanced to the semi finals of 2017 IMMAF World Championships after having recorded wins yesterday.
Bahrain’s Murtaza Talha Ali won against Sam Lawson of Australia in the Light Heavyweight category.
Another victory for Bahrain was when Abdulmanap Magomedov swiftly defeated Merey Zhubanov (Kazakhstan) in feather weight category. He was able to knock out his opponent in the first minute of the first round. Also, Bahraini Gamzat Magomedov defeated Artsem Areshka (Belarus) via a unanimous decision.
Hussain Abdulla of Bahrain defeated Ireland’s Dylan Kennedy via split decision. However Bahrain did record two losses as Shamil Gimbatov and Hend Rezk lost their bouts.
Speaking about the tournament Sam Slater of Irish MMA said: “I think the tournament will be very impressive in light of the elegant arrangements made by the Kingdom of Bahrain, which impressed everyone due to the thoroughness of the preparations”.
Mori Haditha from Kazakhstan said: “Bahrain is a very beautiful country. The members of the organizing committee have done a great job organizing the tournament in a wonderful way”
Expo being held
In parallel to the main event, an exhibition is also being held. The expo exhibits Bahrain’s heritage, local cultural cuisine etc. Another highlight of the expo is the games hosted for children.
Head of the Design and Publications Committee, Yousif Duaij said that big companies such as such as Batelco, General Motors have participated in the event. A total of 30 stalls are part of the expo.
Open training session held
An open training session was held yesterday at the Avenues Mall. Fighters who will be fighting at the Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions showcased their skills to the public.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended the event and Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty was also in attendance.
