Classical dance performance in Bahrain

Manama Embassy of India, Bahrain, is organising an Indian classical dance performance at the Cultural Hall on 25 November 2017 at 6:30pm by cultural troupes sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. 

The exponents of Indian classical dance forms, Kathak and Kuchipudi, along with other members of the respective troupes will be performing as part of the ‘Festival of India in Bahrain’ event.  

Kathak will be performed by a dance group led by Sanjeev Kumar Agnihotri, while Kuchipudi will be performed a group led by Deepa Narayanan Sashindran.

Sanjeev Kumar Agnihotri, who is a post-graduate in theatre arts from Bhartendu Academy of Dramatic Arts, has directed and choreographed a number of plays and dance dramas and acted in many plays and telefilms. The group would perform Shiv Vandana, Tarana in pure Kathak form and Holi, a festival of colours in Kathak and folk style. 

Deepa Narayanan Shashindran is a fine versatile artiste of the Kuchipudi dance style mastered under guru the renowned Kuchipudi exponent Manju Barggavee. She has received a lot of accolades for her vivacious dance technique and spell-bound performances in India and abroad. The group will perform an invocatory ‘slokham’ on Lord Ganesha, followed by various compositions and Vandematharam choreographed in Kuchipudi style.
