‘Old Markets Committee’ discuss plans for Manama Souq
Manama : The Old Markets Committee held a meeting at Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) to discuss the latest developments in the old Manama souq project.
Several topics were discussed on the occasion which included the grants provided and budget for the development of the souq, which will be presented to BCCI’s Board of Directors. The discussion also focused on launching Manama Souq’s website, installing signage boards and incubators for innovative crafts.
Headed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, the meeting was held in the presence of the First Deputy Chairman of the BCCI and Head of the Old Market Committee, Khalid Rashid Al Zayani, the members of the Old Markets
Committee.
“It is our pleasure to witness the joint cooperation between all concerned governmental and private bodies in order to achieve the objectives of the project and its overall success,” said CEO of BTEA, Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa adding: “It is important that the project is executed based on best practices to enhance and position the Manama Souq as a significant touristic and commercial
destination.”
Further commenting on the meeting, the First Deputy Chairman of BCCI and Head of the Old Market Committee, Khalid Rashid Al Zayani, stressed that the government has taken great strides to revive the souq which is one of the most popular attractions in the Kingdom for shoppers looking for original and distinct products.
