Avoid lanes allocated to contest, public urged

Manama : The General Directorate of Traffic has called upon motorists and road users to be alert as some road lanes will be closed for Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship.

“Follow instructions and cooperate with traffic personnel and avoid entering lanes allocated for contestants of the race,” General Director of Traffic Colonel Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa urged road users.  The public was also  asked to avoid driving through the race’s allocated roads during the competition, except one has to, while the roads would be gradually opened with the last contestant. The race starts at 6 am at the Bahrain Bay, Four Seasons Hotel, to Zallaq through King Faisal Highway in Manama and Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway, and back again to the Bahrain Bay. King Faisal highway will be closed from 6:30 am to 11:30 am to the Bahrain Financial Harbour signal. 

Those coming from Muharraq should take the Bahrain Bay Road. The Bahrain Gulf Road that leads to Al Jazaer Beach will be closed from 8 am to 11 am. One lane would be allocated for the race in all remaining roads, except Zallaq Road in which two lanes would be kept for the race from Rashid Equestrian Club to Bahrain Bay road.
