‘Spectra 2017’ art contest winners honoured

Manama : Winners of the ninth Faber-Castell ‘Spectra 2017’ art contest were honoured on Thursday following a Grand Finale held at Dr Abdul Kalam Memorial Hall, The Asian School, Tubli.

Net proceeds from the annual art carnival, organised by the Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF), goes to a Family Welfare Fund formed to support the families of deceased Indian labourers drawing wages below BD100 per month.

The winners were honoured by Meera Sisodia First Secretary at the Embassy of India in the presence of ICRF Chairman Bhagwan Asarpota, ICRF General Secretary Aruldas Thomas, Spectra Convener U K Menon, Jt. Convener Rosaline, Indian School Chairman Prince Natarajan, Asian School Principal Molly Mamman along with Sanjay Bhan of title sponsor Faber Castell.

Around 1,300 children from 22 schools participated in the competition held on 3 November 2017 at the Indian School. Competitions were held in four categories namely: 5 to 8 years, 8 to 11 years, 11 to 13 years and 14 to 18 years. Top 25 contestants from each group were awarded mementoes and certificates.

The winning entries and other outstanding creations were pictured on wall and desktop calendars for the year 2018. Meera Sisodia, First Secretary at the Embassy of India, released the calendars.
