Towards a bright future
Manama : Bahrain Women Association – for Human Development (BWA), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) yesterday organised a forum putting the spotlight on the recommendations made by the Arab Human Development Report (AHDR) 2016.
The form held at the Golden Tulip with the theme “Youth, are the nation’s pulsing heart and dynamism” discussed the role played by families and institutions in encouraging youngsters.
The ‘Arab Human Development Report (AHDR) 2016’ recommends that Arab countries can achieve a significant leap forward in development if they urgently prioritise adopting policies that ensure the well-being, productivity, self-determination and good citizenship of their young population.
When asked about the activities of BWA in supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Mona Alalawi, BWA president, told DT News that BWA’s activities are “fully aligned with one or more of the 17 UN SDGs. “BWA has conducted five consecutive forums since 2004,” she said pointing out that the sixth forum aims at portraying the “realities of young people, understanding the needs, visions, and the challenges”. More than 130 participants from Bahrain as well as the rest of the GCC were present.
