TRA Bahrain takes top award
Manama : Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Bahrain has been named as the winner of “Regulatory Initiative of the Year” Award for 2017 in the 12th edition of the annual CommsMEA Awards in Dubai, UAE.
The award recognizes, according to CommsMEA, the authority’s efforts in developing a healthy, safe and competitive market in the Kingdom.
TRA won the prize beating prominent rivals in the region including the TRA’s of the UAE, TRA Oman and CITC Saudi Arabia.
Commenting on the award, TRA’s Director of Cyber Security, Dr Khalid Bin Duaij Al-Khalifa, said, “This award honours the efforts of TRA staff who had worked diligently to accomplish a significant initiative.”
He further pointed out that the CTI Risk Management Regulation is a major step forward for Bahrain, “as no such legislation had existed previously in the Kingdom or the region”.
The regulation, Dr Khalid said, aims to comprehensively manage risks to critical telecommunications infrastructure, thereby ensuring the resilience of telecom services in the country’s drive towards a digitally connected future.
