Man arrested for stabbing

Manama : A man was yesterday arrested few hours after he stabbed another man in a restaurant in the Eastern Parts of the Capital. A worker at the restaurant, who preferred anonymity, told DT News that “the incident took place at around 2 am yesterday in the restaurant” which is located on Exhibitions Avenue near Hoora.

He confirmed that “the victim was a Moroccan and that the attacker a Saudi national”.

“The attacker was walking down the stairs coming from the restroom, while a woman who was accompanying the victim was walking in the opposite direction. The woman claimed that the man touched her inappropriately and both men began fighting,” the witness told.

He added, “The attacker ran to his car near the restaurant, and came back holding a knife. He stabbed the victim on the hand. However, it was a minor injury and the victim is fine now. We gave our testimonies at the Capital Governorate Police Directorate (Hoora Police Station) and provided them with footage of the surveillance cameras installed in the shop.”

Capital Governorate Police General Director Colonel Khalid Al Thawadi confirmed the arrest of the attacker few hours after the incident was reported. Col. Al Thawadi said “the Public Prosecution was informed about the incident and legal procedures are continued to refer the suspect to the prosecution”.

The fight was recorded by one of the restaurant’s customers and was soon spread on local and regional social media networks.
