HRH Princess Sabeeka to patronise Bahraini Women’s Day
Manama : The Supreme Council of Women (SCW) will celebrate Bahraini Women’s Day this Saturday by putting the spotlight on the achievements made by Bahraini Women in the profession of Engineering.
Observed annually on December 1, the event celebrates women’s achievements that helped accelerate Bahrain’s development march, while pledging to help women achieve their ambitions.
The event, held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council of Women (SCW), will be celebrated by all official and private bodies in the Kingdom.
According to the United Nations, it is “a day when women are recognised for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. It is an occasion for looking back on past struggles and accomplishments, and more importantly, for looking ahead to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women.”
This year, the event focuses on the contributions made by Bahraini women over the past forty years in various engineering professions including chemical and civil engineering, architectural, agricultural and electrical engineering.
A forum on the “Role of Academic Guidance and Enlightenment” in boosting the sustainability of women’s working in the engineering fields as well as a conference on ‘Women in Engineering Professions’ will be held among other activities.
