Bahrain CP, Paul Ryan hold bilateral discussions

Manama : His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister yesterday met the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Paul Ryan and the United States Senate Majority Leader, Senator Mitch McConnell separately.

The meeting comes after signing of an agreement to extend defence cooperation between both the countries on Wednesday. 

“No challenge is more pressing than the threat posed by extremist ideologies while recognising the important role strong legislative systems play in supporting the global fight against terrorism,” said HRH Crown Prince.

HRH Crown Prince welcomed the productive meeting with Speaker of the U.S. House of  Representatives.

Highlighting the deep-rooted ties between Bahrain and the U.S., HRH the Crown Prince said that these bonds are based on shared values of openness and freedom. HRH the Crown Prince also highlighted the complexity of challenges that the region faces, and stressed the need to continue strengthening economic, legislative and security cooperation.

HRH the Crown Prince, who also met Senator McConnell separately, discussed a range of global security issues, in particular, the need to strengthen international policy coordination and strategies to counter terrorism and extremist ideologies. His Royal Highness expressed his appreciation for Senator McConnell’s personal efforts in support of the bilateral relationship.

The reception was attended by the Bahraini delegation accompanying His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, as well as a number of invited guests.
