Royal reforms granted women their rights, says Shaikh Khalid

Manama : First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and President of Bahrain Athletics Association, Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed appreciation for the Bahraini women’s achievements which contributed to the Kingdom’s growth and prosperity.

Marking the Bahraini Women’s Day, observed on December 1, Shaikh Khalid hailed the Royal Reform project, which supports Bahraini women at all, levels. 

He said the project has put a framework for Bahraini women to obtain their full rights in line with the strategy of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) spearheaded by its President Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King.

The strategy, Shaikh Khalid added, aims to boost the status of Bahraini women as a main and sustainable partner in Bahrain’s comprehensive development process. 

Shaikh Khalid also underlined the key role played by Bahraini women in fast-tracking development in tune with the government’s trend to further engage them in decision-making. He pointed out choosing the engineering field this year to spotlight the accomplishments of Bahraini women in this vital sector.

Shaikh Khalid extended to HRH Princess Sabeeka and all Bahraini women heartfelt congratulations on Bahraini Women’s Day, wishing Bahraini women continuous success in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Separately,  Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ahmed Al-Mulla, extended deepest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the Bahraini women’s landmark achievements and gains.

The Speaker, in his statement, lauded the major role Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) playing in enhancing the status of Bahraini women. 

Al-Mulla pointed out that dedicating this year’s Bahraini Women’s Day to women in the engineering field reflects the Bahraini women’s landmark achievements in this sector for more than four decades.

He also asserted that the Representatives Council is keen on taking the visions of the SCW and women associations while discussing laws and legislation, as well as the Government Action Plan.

He also said that there is a Women and Child Committee at the Representatives Council and an Equal Opportunities Unit at the council’s Secretariat-General, adding that he will give directives to hold training courses for women at the Bahrain Centre for Parliamentary Training.

Chairman of the Shura Council, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, extended congratulations to Her Royal Highness and lauded HRH Princess Sabeeka’s “tangible, fruitful and always constructive” efforts to preserve Bahraini women’s rights and dignity.
