Togi Mathew, Subhash win Men’s doubles

Togi Mathew of the Indian Club and Subhash Somanathan of the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) defeated the BKS pairing of Mahu K Menon and Jayakumar K 21-17, 21-15 in the men’s doubles Flight 1A final in the BKS-Suwaiket Open Badminton Tournament which concluded on Friday.

In the mens doubles Flight 1B final, Jaimy and Prasobh of BKS got the better of Randy Bacia and Anthony Manabat of the Filipino Club, 21-17 21-12 and the womens doubles final title was claimed by Sathy Jayakumar of BKS and Shalini Shetty of Indian Club who defeated Adithya Unnikrishnan and Zehra Yezdani from Saudi Arabia 21-17, 21-17.

The tournament was organised jointly by the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam and Suwaiket Club in Saud iArabia and held at the BKS Diamond Jubilee Hall with the title sponsor of the event being Eram Floors Middle East.

It was open to all nationalities and other clubs with players from Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries participating and conducted in different categories depends upon the flights.
Clubs competed were BKS, Indian Club, Kerala Catholic Association, Filipino Club, Indonesian Club, Pakistan Club, Alba Club and Suwaiket Club of Saudi Arabia.

Mixed Doubles Flight 1: Deric Gonsalves/Neha Jojo (Saudi Arabia) bt Subhash Somanathan (BKS)/Neelam Singh (Indian Club) 15-21, 21-17, 21-18.
