Bahrain Ministry rejects false allegations

ManamaThe Ministry of Health yesterday dismissed as ‘false’ the accusation that the Kingdom has denied healthcare to Isa Qassim.

The statement asserted that all facilities reporting to it (hospitals and health centres) offer their services in accordance with the highest of standards, across the Kingdom, within its mandate and mission to ensure the availability of high quality healthcare service to all citizens and residents

“There are no obstacles that hinder any citizen or resident from accessing these services, or prevent them from receiving any kind of healthcare services. The ministry’s network of healthcare facilities, both governmental and private, is available across all governorates of the Kingdom, and offer their services round-the-clock,” the statement by the ministry said.

The ministry also confirmed that it is “closely following” the health condition of Isa Qassim.

The statement says that on Sunday evening, 26 November 2017, upon the request of a relative of Qassim’s, Dr. Jassim Hassan Al Dirazi and Dr. Mohammed Hassan Al Dirazi visited Qassim at his home in the village of Diraz.

And On Wednesday morning, 29 November 2017, a medical team accompanied by an ambulance service was called to transfer Qassim to the hospital for treatment. “However, Qassim’s relatives refused the transfer and asked to delay it at that time, stating that his health condition did not require hospital treatment. Furthermore, based on a request by his relatives, Dr. Mohammed Hassan Al Dirazi visited Qassim’s home again yesterday evening. After examination, Dr. Al Dirazi issued a prescription for treatment.”

The minister statement further said that “it would under no circumstance delay offering its services when requested by patients or their relatives.”

“The mission is humanitarian, and is applied readily without any discrimination,” the Health Ministry’s statement read.
