‘The Red Circle’ bags first prize at BCCFC

Manama“The Red Circle”, directed by Zainab Mardhi won the first prize in the first edition of the Bahrain Cinema Club Film Competition (BCCFC) which concluded at the club in Juffair with the participation of several young talents in the film industry.

The second and third prize went to  “The Maerd” directed by Mohammed Ibrahim and “Assassination of a Dream”, directed by Fadhil Najib, respectively. 

They were awarded by Al Masqati and the participants were honoured by the chief guest and Bahraini superstar Jamaan Al Rowai’ee.

Bahrain Cinema Club General Secretary Mansoura Al Jamri explained to DT News that 25 participants, Bahrainis and residents, took part in the completion, which included the categories of short films and sketches.

The works tackled social issues that are connected to the Bahraini society, and didn’t exceed the period of two minutes.

The top three winners were awarded by the jury in a ceremony held at the club. Bahrain Cinema Club President Nadir Al Masqati welcomed the participants and attendees.

In his speech, he highlighted the goals pursued by organising the first edition of the competition, and affirmed that the club will continue to support the filmmakers in Bahrain on all levels.

“ The Club encourages and supports young talents. But there are some observations and advice that we must convey to young people. 

We advise them to take their time and try to learn and not to rush and jump beyond essential stages. We also encourage them to promote the belief that cinema is a tool to change human life,” Al Masqati.
