Traffic monitoring cameras not recording traffic offences in Bahrain: Report
Manama : The General Directorate if Traffic was urged to utilise the traffic monitoring cameras installed on roads to detect more traffic offences such as not wearing seat belts.
"Traffic monitoring cameras are only recording over-speeding and jumping red lights traffic violations," an official report read.
It was mentioned in the National Audit Office (NAO) report for the years 2016-2017 which underlined that "there is a lack of monitoring of traffic violations through the new cameras, as the General Directorate of Traffic only records certain offences such as over-speeding and jumping the red light, and do not record the rest of the violations shown in the video, such as not wearing the seat belts and using handheld phones while driving, travelling with a child in the front seat of the vehicle, wrong overtaking and overtaking through the yellow lanes".
These were few of the violations committed by the General Directorate of Traffic and other official institutions that were highlighted in the annual report.
