Interior Minister marks International Anti-corruption Day

Manama : Interior Minister, Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday hailed the efforts of the anti-corruption authorities for their role in the protection of public money. 

The Minister, in a speech marking the International Anti-corruption Day, extended thanks to all ministries and organisations for their cooperation and initiatives to hold awareness activities to promote transparency and fighting corruption.

“On this occasion, we should highlight the negative effects of corruption on economic development,” Shaikh Rashid said. 

Marking the day celebrated annually on December 9, Shaikh Rashid said:  “The anti-corruption efforts come through legislation development and preventative steps, in addition to, a comprehensive system of reforms to tackle corruption-related issues.” 

The General Directorate of Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security dealt with 68 cases this year, including those mentioned in the report of the National Financial and Administrative Audit Court.
