National Day Festival planned

Manama : The Kingdom of Bahrain will be celebrating its national day later this month with a packaged programme featuring sports and entertaining activities to be organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC).

Fourteen national sports federations are putting the final touches on its respective events to be staged simultaneously between December 8 and 23.

Federations involved in the upcoming festivities will bring variety of sports competitions, such as endurance race, showjumping, mini volleyball, gold, marathon, sports for people with disabilities, chess, checkers, bridge, shooting and archery, billiards and snooker, bowling, tennis, 3-on- 3 women basketball, athletics for children, squash, badminton, gymnastics and swimming.

The venues have also been confirmed, including the Bahrain International Endurance Village, the Bahrain Military Sports Federation, Royal Golf Club, Bahrain Sports Federation for People with Disabilities, Cue-In Gym, Funland Bowling Centre, Polytechnic University, Bahrain Basketball Association hall and Khalifa Sports City Stadium.

BOC Sports Associations executive director Abduljalil Asad said the committee is working hand in hand with all national sports federation to prepare for the festivities, which are in line with their plan to maintain a solid social partnership with the government and private sectors and celebrate this special event.
