Progressive Parents Alliance wins ISB election
Manama : The Progressive Parents Alliance (PPA) led by its Chairman candidate Prince S Natarajan has won a thumping majority in the election to the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) Executive Committee for the year 2017-2020 which was held at its campus in Isa Town on Friday.
The elected candidates to the ISB Executive Committee are: Prince S Natarajan (2143 votes), Saji Antony (1810 votes), Premalatha N.S (1704 votes), Binu Mannil Varughese(1698votes), Rajesh Mukkadekattu N (1679votes), Jayafar Maidani-(1669 votes) and Ajayakrishnan V(1597 votes)
The first six candidates were part of Progressive Parents Alliance (PPA) while Ajayakrishnan V was the chairman candidate for the United Parents Panel (UPP).
Earlier on Thursday Johnson K Devassy, a senior Post Graduate teacher in the ISB English Department, was elected for the post of Staff Representative to the executive committee.
Returning officers Leny P Mathew,Veena Arora,Mohamed Ghouse Mohamed Saleem and Thomas Mathai were entrusted to conduct the election.
There were a total 32 candidates representing various panels to contest the prestigious Indian School election. The ISB election was part of the Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) which was held on Friday at the Jashanmal auditorium.
Of the 8667 parents, total polled votes were 4726. Total valid votes were 4635.
Prince S Natarajan said his aim is to consolidate the achievements and to ensure sustained academic excellence, complete transparency and financial discipline during the next tenure 2017-2020.
The Indian School Executive Committee (EC) consists of 13 members. Besides the seven members elected yesterday, the Staff Representative, three Education Ministry Nominees, a Ministry Observer and the Principal will be members of the EC.
