Stars will be born here

RiyadhNew talents and skilful organizations will soon emerge in Saudi Arabia, “who can support the country’s art and entertainment sector,” said Legendary Hollywood star, John Travolta.

“I am very lucky to visit the Kingdom,” Travolta, who is visiting the kingdom for the first time after the decision to open movie theatres was made, told his fans.

Travolta told his fans that the opening of movie theatres would mark a new era in the history of Saudi Arabia.

The event, part of ‘An Evening with John Travolta’ organised by the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) in the APEX Convention Center in Riyadh, gave his Saudi fans an opportunity to meet him and hear about his journey in the Hollywood.

The General Entertainment Authority is a government-sanctioned body borne out of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 programme.

When asked whether he would film any of his movies in the Kingdom, Travolta’s response was positive.

He even hinted at a possible launch of his movie premiere in Saudi cinemas, as he would be the first Hollywood star to have done so.

He also spoke about the instrumental role entertainment plays in bringing together people from diverse backgrounds surrounding art and emphasized the importance of funds to increase the production quality of movies.

GEA said it has witnessed high interest in the past and plans for future events as well. In the recently held musical show by “Yanni”,  GEA said, “20% of the show’s attendees in the Eastern region came from Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE.”
