Missing Bahraini sailor detained in Qatar
Manama : The Bahraini sailor who went missing along with his two-member fishermen crew on Sunday has been detained by the Qatari Cost Guard, DT News has learnt.
As reported by DT News yesterday, Mustafa Hassan, 30, and two fishermen of Asian nationalities went missing on Sunday after sailing off the coasts of Al Dair Village on the northeastern parts of island.
According to his family members, Hassan called yesterday and informed them that he has been detained by the Qatari Coast Guard after their boat drifted into the Qatari waters with no fuel.
They pleaded to the relevant authorities here to interfere and release Hassan and the two sailors, adding that Hassan informed them that he will be referred to the Public Prosecution there on the charges of trespassing into the Qatari waters.
The sailor’s family had circulated a message online on Tuesday, asking the authorities and the public to help them locate their missing son. No official statements were available on the case yet.
