Armed forces development key to stability: Deputy King

Manama : Deputy King, His Royal Highness, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, yesterday said that continuous development of armed forces has a vital role in ensuring the stability of the region. 

Speaking during a visit to the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), the Deputy King praised the professionalism of the BDF, noting that, through the support of His Majesty King Hamad, “the BDF plays a valued and vital role defending the country’s sovereignty and supporting justice.”

Prince Salman stressed on the development of Bahrain’s armed forces and providing the BDF with latest defences systems “ensures it continues to work alongside the Kingdom’s allies to strengthen  the regional stability.”

Upon arrival, the Deputy King was received by Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the BDF and Lieutenant General Yousif bin Ahmed Al Jalahma, Minister of Defence Affairs, as well as a number of senior officers.

The Deputy King commended the sacrifices made by members of the BDF, noting that the BDF has become a model of loyalty, sacrifice, efficiency and effectiveness.

 The Deputy King was briefed on current strategies, future plans, and development and armament programmes to enhance the capabilities of BDF personnel and provide them with the highest level of training.

The Deputy King expressed his gratitude to the Bahrain Defence Force  for their ongoing efforts and contributions to the security of the region.
