Kochi Metro Film Fest a big boost to local talents
Manama : Providing budding film-makers with an opportunity to showcase their talents and guidance in all aspects of filmmaking, the first Indo-Gulf Kochi Metro Short Film Fest concluded in Bahrain on a high note.
Through this initiative, the organisers have been able to screen more than 50 internationally acclaimed short films, as well as works by veteran Bahraini filmmaker Bu Ali and more than 30 popular expat films from GCC. ‘Cross Road’ was the premier show of the fest.
“Bahrain gave me an overwhelming response and I am delighted to see the audience support and enthusiasm about short films,” said Kochi Metro Short Film Fest (KMSFF) Director Ravindher. “I will provide maximum support to the filmmakers of Bahrain.”
The vision and objective of KMSFF, with actor Mohanlal as Chairman and actor Ravindher as Festival Director, is to provide guidance in all aspects of filmmaking.
Bahraini filmmaker Mohd Rashid Bu Ali was the chief guest of the launch ceremony. Guests of Honour were Indian Embassy Second Secretary Anand Prakash, Second Secretary-Consular Prabhir Kumar Chowdhary, Banker A Mohandas, Businessman Munasser Al Soroor, Journalist Meera Ravi, Nikon Brand Manager Ali Ahmed.
The highlight of the two-day fest, which witnessed the participation of more than 500 families and film enthusiasts, was the logo launching ceremony of Kochi Metro Bahrain chapter, a platform created to support emerging short filmmakers and Film lovers in Bahrain.
The core committee members of the Bahrain chapter are Dr Ranjit M.K, Prakash N Pillai, Sujith Kumar, Mohd Taqi, Jyotikumar Menon, Shivdas Nair, Premjith Narayanan, Rajit P Nair, KT Ramesh and Sajitha Satheesh.
Their immediate future plans include conducting theoretical and practical sessions in filmmaking and opening an academy in a year’s time.
Several forums were also held during the festival with discussion focusing on various aspects of filmmaking under the guidance of KMSFF Director Ravindher.
