1,442 travel bans issued in three years: Bahrain Ministry
Manama : More than 1, 400 travel ban verdicts were issued in Bahrain in the period between the years 2013-2016, it has been recently revealed.
This came in the reply of Justice, Islamic Affair and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa to parliamentary queries recently submitted by MP Jalal Kadhim.
The queries were regarding the latest statistics of the ministry in relation to court cases, their types and numbers.
The minister confirmed in a written answer, which will be reviewed by the House of Representatives on Tuesday, that precautionary measures and travel bans were taken in 1, 442 cases between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2016.
Shaikh Khalid said 203, 941 cases were reported in the same period and included cases seen before the civil, criminal and shari’a courts.
“187, 860 cases were looked into in the same period, while 81, 304 were closed and 16, 081 are ongoing,” the minister mentioned in his reply, adding that “the number of cases received increased from 44, 646 cases in 2013 to 54, 401 in 2016”.
