Palestinian Revolution anniversary celebrated

Manama : Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Regional and GCC Affairs, Ambassador Waheed Mubarak Sayyar, participated in the 53rd anniversary of Palestinian revolution celebration held at the Embassy of Palestine here yesterday. The Undersecretary, in his speech, noted the efforts of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to support the Palestinian people’s struggle and legitimate rights in various forums.

He took pride in the efforts of the late Amir, His Highness Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, in support of the people of Palestine, recalling his brotherly relations with the late Palestinian President, Yasser Arafat, since the outbreak of the revolution.

He also stressed that the Palestinian revolution has set an example of the legitimate struggle to restore rights, regardless of all obstacles, such as the decision of the American Administration to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and transfer its embassy to the city of Jerusalem, which was a flagrant violation of international legitimacy resolutions. The Undersecretary highlighted the sacrifices of Palestinians in defending their homeland and their political efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

He affirmed the international community’s rejection of the policy of Israeli settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories, in accordance with Security Council resolution 2334 on 23 December, 2016.
