More than 1,000 arrested in drugs abuse cases in 2017: MoI
Manama : More than 1,000 drug abuse-related arrests were made by Bahraini authorities during the first 10 months of 2017, according to a report.
According to figures released by Interior Ministry, a total of 1,050 drug abuse-related arrests were made between January and October last year. In 2016, for the same reason, 1,153 individuals were caught.
Out of the 1,050 arrested individuals, 38 were females, while 538 were GCC nationals and 279 were locals. 58 were Arab nationals and 175 were foreigners.
Nine overdose deaths were also reported during the period, while 11 cases were reported in 2016.
The arrests were made by the anti-narcotics police of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science in Interior Ministry from different parts of the Kingdom, the sea and at the entry points including Bahrain International Airport, King Fahad Causeway, Mina Salman and Khalifa Bin Salman Seaports.
