Ministry crackdown on illegal meat vendors

ManamaHealth authorities in Bahrain yesterday announced that it has taken action against illegal street vendors selling meat in unhealthy conditions in different parts of the Kingdom.

This was confirmed by Health Ministry on its official page on Instagram, stating that it has detected several vendors and took the necessary procedures against them.

“Health Ministry followed with concern footage circulated on local social networks showing a group of street vendors selling meat in one of the streets in the Kingdom. The ministry, within its concern about consumers health, the matter was immediately referred to the concerned departments in the ministry and took the necessary procedures in coordination with Consumer Protection in Industry, Commerce and Tourism,” the statement read.

The ministry confirmed that the site was visited by the authorised officials and that the shops were removed in accordance with the required procedures.

The ministry added in the statement, “The ministry reaffirms that it is keen on providing the highest standards of healthcare services to citizens and residents around the clock and is sparing no efforts in monitoring the local markets to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and preserve public health.”
