Saudi stances hailed

ManamaThe supportive stances of Saudi Arabia greatly helped Bahrain in maintaining security and stability in the Kingdom, said Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday. 

“We always value the genuine and supportive stands of Saudi Arabia to maintain security and order in Bahrain,” Shaikh Rashid told Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdul-Aziz bin Saud bin Nayef Al Saud, who is on a three-day official visit to the Kingdom. 

The meeting was held in the presence of senior Interior Ministry officials and ambassadors of both countries. 

Welcoming Prince Abdul-Aziz to the Kingdom, Shaikh Rashid said his visit “reinforces strong security ties thanks to the brotherly relations between the two countries under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud”.  

On the occasion, Bahrain’s police band performed Saudi national anthem which was followed by a parade. Prince Abdul-Aziz and the Interior Minister then headed for the Police Fort where they were briefed on the exhibits in the Fort Museum narrating the history of the Fort.

The Interior Minister also presented a commemorative gift to his Saudi counterpart. 

Earlier, on Monday, the Saudi Interior Minister held talks with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. 

HM, the King underscored the importance of fraternal visits which, he said, contribute to strengthening joint security cooperation and coordination and strengthening consultation regarding current developments, as the region goes through critical conditions. 

HM, the King hailed the crucial Saudi-led role to consolidate joint GCC work, defend its interests and unify efforts and stances. 

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince also underlined Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role supporting regional security by combating terrorism and its funding. 

The Crown Prince hosted a dinner banquet in honour of His Royal Highness the Minister of Interior and his accompanying delegation.
