BOC: National Sports Day scheduled
Manama : The second edition of Bahrain’s Sports Day has been scheduled for February 13, the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) announced yesterday.
The event is organized as per directives of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President, and aims to promote sport and health-enhancing physical activities.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar said the organizing committee is working hard with all other relevant authorities to prepare for a string of programmes that will be announced at a later date.
“The Bahrain Sports Day is a special national occasion that is celebrated every year and targets members of the community to promote the concept of sport for all and to make it a lifestyle that contributes to boost public health within the society,” said Askar.
Askar added that the significant success of last year’s maiden National Sports Day, which involved last number of ministries, companies and the public, reflected the great passion of the people of Bahrain to participate in such a first-of- its-kind event organized in the Kingdom.
