Bahrain secure final place

ManamaBahrain national handball team secured their place in the finals for the fourth consecutive time after a 29-21 win over Japan yesterday in the deciding group stages match at the Asian Championship in South Korea, thus were ensured a place in the continental event semi-finals.

The top four teams in the Asian Championship qualify for next year’s World Championship finals, to be jointly hosted by Denmark and Germany.

After the crucial victory over Japan, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the king for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president, congratulated the team on this achievement and commended the performance of the players and their dedication.

Shaikh Nasser also asserted that the efforts of the technical team and the Bahrain Handball Association have highly contributed to this great achievement.

Shaikh Nasser ordered to reward members of the Bahrain national handball team. He directed to allocate cash prizes to members of the team right after the match, and wished them success in the remaining of the tournament.

The initiative was highly welcomed by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, who thanked Shaikh Nasser for his support to all the Bahraini athletes, especially the handball team, which played a major part in this honourable achievement.
