BOA unveils slew of programmes for current year
Manama : The Bahrain Olympic Academy (BOA) has unveiled a slew of exciting programmes for the year 2018.
Addressing a press conference at Hani Royal Hotel in Seef yesterday, Nabeel Taha, Academy director and international instructor, said that among the most anticipated programmes to be brought up this year will be the Level 4 of the National Coaching Programme, which aims to qualify national coaches in different sports.
Taha said he was proud of what Bahrain has accomplished in the field of training since 2013.
Taha noted that the Academy, which was formerly known as Sports Training and Development Centre, has made significant strides over the past years in terms of providing leading training courses, workshops and seminars for coaches, not only in Bahrain but also in other parts of the Arabian Gulf.
The region’s first-ever sports performance laboratory was established by Lounes Madene and Dr Vladimir Suarez Felipe. Hi-tech facilities are available at the laboratory, including VO2 Max device, which measures the maximum volume of oxygen that an athlete can use, in an attempt to ensure the safety of the athletes’ health and prevent a sudden health crisis.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar appreciated the Academy for its efforts in the development of its programmes and the dedication of its staff towards achieving its goals.
He stated that the strategic plan of the academy is in line with the directives of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president.
