Preparations in full swing for Bahrain Sports Day
Manama : Preparations are in full swing for Bahrain Sports Day on February 13. The Sports Day organising committee held its maiden preparatory meeting yesterday, in which the initial points on this year’s event were brought up.
The 2018 Bahrain Sports Day, organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOA) for the second consecutive time, targets both citizens and the expat community of all ages.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar said the organising committee will spare no efforts to make the Bahrain Sports Day one of the leading sporting events in the region.
He thanked all ministries, other government authorities, the private sector and all those who are cooperating with the committee to bring this event in bid to promote sports as a healthy lifestyle.
The general secretary also conveyed the greetings of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president, to attendees.
BOC Arab and International Relations director Fajer Jassim made a presentation on the programme of this year’s Bahrain Sports Day, which begins at 3.30pm at Shaikh Isa Sports City in Riffa.
Nawaf Abdulrahman, the Information Technology expert, spoke about the coverage of the event on a dedicated website that has been already launched and the services being provided online.
The second preparatory meeting will take place on February 4, at Hani Royal Hotel at 9am to follow up on the progress made as a build up to this year’s event.
