Sister donates kidney, saves life
Manama : In a perfect expression of true love, a brave Bahraini lady saved her younger sister’s life by donating one of her kidneys and ended her sufferings from a painful kidney failure.
Al Ayam daily reported that Zainab Al Laith saved her younger sister Laila’s life (both in their twenties) after the latter suffered from a rare kidneys syndrome, that led to the complete dysfunction of both of her kidneys.
Al Laith, who hails from Dar Kulaib village in the south-western parts of the Kingdom, said her sister had to suspend her medical studies in China so she could come back to Bahrain to receive treatment and undergo the routine dialysis process.
She said that she had undergone the necessary tests which resulted in a match with her sister and were perfect for the transplant procedure.
Al Laith confirmed that the operation, conducted in Kuwait in coordination with Salmaniya Medical Complex Nephrology Department, was successful and that her sister’s condition is stable. Interestingly, Zainab had signed a document to donate her organs after death, a year prior to her sister’s illness.
