Driver who killed 3 goes scot-free with BD500 fine
Manama : A reckless Bahraini driver responsible for killing three citizens in a horrific traffic accident last September got his BD500 fine verdict upheld by the Supreme Court of Appeals, recently.
DT News reported earlier that Sadiq Al Sabba’a, Hassan Al Sayyad and Adel Faraj were instantly killed on the dawn of September 24, 2017, after the unheeding driver rammed into them on Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway near Aali.
The accident occurred while the victims were standing on the side of the highway to discuss a minor traffic accident the three of them were involved in.
The three victims were announced dead on the spot. The driver responsible for the accident was immediately arrested and interrogated, as confirmed by Traffic Prosecution.
The driver was accused of unintentional murder, causing damages to public and private properties and other related traffic offences.
The incident also resulted in diverting the traffic on the busy highway to the nearby Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway for a couple of hours.
Head of Traffic Accidents and Violations at the General Directorate of Traffic, Major Ahmed Saad Al Saadi attributed the accident to “wrong traffic practices”, stating back then that the practice of inspecting accident sites by staying in the middle of the road or slowing down to see an accident may lead to death and serious injuries.
