Table tennis team set for Arab women clash

Manama : Bahrain Club’s Table tennis team have completed their preparations for the Fourth Arab Women’s Sports Tournament, which begins Friday in Sharjah.

Bahrain delegation director to the Maryam Mirza visited the team’s most recent training and looked into their progress.

Mirza said she was pleased with the training programme set up by the administrative team, and wished the players success in reaching podium.

On her part, team member Hessa Al Zayani said the team preparations started two months ago and that the players have reached an advanced level of readiness for this regional competition.

The tournament has been scheduled to run from February 2 to 12 in Sharjah, in the UAE, and will bring together teams from around the Arab region to compete in a number of sports.

Bahrain Club will also be taking part in shooting and archery, while other teams to spearhead the kingdom are the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry team (basketball), Muharraq Club (volleyball), Al Hala Club (fencing), Busaiteen (athletics) and Bahrain Karate Academy (karate).
