Free internet for all
Manama : Batelco, in partnership with the Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, has launched free Wi-Fi hotspots at various locations inside the Kingdom.
The service, following the directives of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, will be available for all citizens and residents and tourists.
Tourist attractions, public facilities such as parks, gardens and coastlines are covered by the project.
While Batelco customers will get automatic Internet access at the free WiFi locations, non-Batelco customers will have to do that through a specialized web page, Batelco said in a statement.
The service, Batelco said, will soon be available in other key locations across the Kingdom including Prince Khalifa Park, Al Estaqaili park in Riffa, A’ali Walkway, Adhari Park, Tubli Walkway, Al Andalus Park and Al Salmaniya Park.
Commenting on the move, Batelco Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa stated: “This initiative reiterates Batelco’s support and commitment towards the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.”
Prime Minister’s directive, Batelco Bahrain CEO Mohamed Bubashait said, aims to strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a leading regional communications hub, attracting further commercial investments and attracting more tourists and visitors to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
It is worth noting that several locations already have operational internet services including the Bahrain International Circuit, Seef Mall Muharraq and Seef Mall Seef District, as well as other commercial complexes.
