Fed Cup: Indonesia defeats Bahrain

Manama : Bahrain National Tennis Team suffered 3-0 loss at the hands of Indonesia in Group D on the opening day of Fed Cup, being held at the Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF) hard courts in Isa Town.  

The Kingdom was represented in the singles matches of the kick-off game by Safa Safar and Nazil Nader, but both have gone down in straight-set defeats against Aldila Sutjiadi and Beatrice Gumulya respectively. 

Indonesia went on to win the doubles match as Maya Bseisu and Nazli Nader were defeated in straight-sets too by Deria Nur and Jessy Rompies.

With this victory, Indonesia is on top of Group D, but Pakistan is breathing hard down their neck as they also won their opening match against Sri Lanka.

In other groups, Uzbekistan made short work of Lebanon (3-0) to top Group A, but Philippines squeezed past Kyrgyzstan in a closely contested 2-1 game in Group B.

Oman was the only Arab country to register a victory on the opening day, overcoming Malaysia 2-1 in Group C. Pacific Oceania breezed past Iran 3-0 to top Group C, while Oman is in second position.
