Capital Governorate felicitates volunteers

ManamaShaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Governor of the Capital Governorate, yesterday honoured more than 100 volunteers and organizations for their efforts in various activities and programmes in the governorate during the past one year. 

A ceremony was held at the Public Security Officers Club in this regard which was attended by a number of representatives of government and private bodies, voluntary and cooperative committees, representatives of the Al-Husseiniya funeral processions.

Capital Governorate also announced the ‘voluntary work permit’ initiative at the function. Capital Governorate is the first governorate in the Kingdom to undertake the sustainable development goals in an innovative and unique way to be in line with the goals of the province to raise awareness development of the society. 

“The Capital Governorate seeks to solidify the concept of cooperation, cohesion and solidarity with the forces of society surrounding the governorate through the implementation of the various annual projects and programs with specific objectives by meeting the immediate needs of the members of society through analyzing and studying the current situation and future directions of these programs,” said Shaikh Hisham.

“These activities involve the reflection of public and their integration directly, whether by opinion, work or funding, with the aim of building bridges of common relations that raise the level of public awareness towards the culture of volunteering, which ultimately contributes to the development of the community,” Shaikh Hisham said.

“In the year 2017, the Capital Governorate contributed to organizing and sponsoring 95 programs and activities, including inviting the residents to attend the weekly council sessions of the governorate and monitoring the needs of their regions during the governorate’s organization field visits,” Shaikh Hisham said.

“We are further delighted to offer a pioneering and unique initiative for volunteering as the first governorate in the Kingdom of Bahrain to undertake the approach of sustainable development goals in an innovative and unique way in a hope that it will complement the voluntary work that the governorate seeks in partnership with the organisations,” Shakh Hisham said.

“I further thank and appreciate all the volunteers and collaborators for their contribution to the promotion of volunteering in the capital province, as these efforts have been a contributing factor in reaching such a large number of events and programs held last year,” said Shaikh Hisham. 

Fuad Al-Hajji, a member of Shura Council and Head of Husseiniyah Processions, extended his gratitude and appreciation to the wise leadership and for the Governate’s support during the Ashura season. He  also extended gratitude to Interior Minister, Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa for the efforts in ensuring safety and securing the participants on the occasion in various regions of the Kingdom.
