National health survey to be launched soon

ManamaThe government given the go-ahead for a nationwide health survey.

The Ministry of Health is partnering with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) to organize the campaign, which runs from February to June. 

“The outcome of the survey will serve to meet the needs of Bahrain’s 2030 Economic Vision and help draw up adequate strategies”, said Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh. 

In a statement yesterday, she said that the National Health Survey 2018 is part of the Government Action Plan (GAP) to provide comprehensive healthcare to citizens and residents. 

She paid tribute to the wise leadership for supporting the health sector, adopting viable national policies and initiatives, upgrading the health infrastructure and promoting the professional qualification of the staff in compliance with world standards. 

She commended the dedicated efforts of the iGA as a key partner to carry out the National Health Survey 2018.

IGA Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Al-Qaid said the nationwide survey is part of a wide-ranging strategy to develop Bahrain’s statistical system and upgrade its national database to draw up development strategies for different economic sectors.

He highlighted the growing volume of investment being pumped in the private health sectors, commending the ministry for its efforts and cooperation to conduct the vital survey. 

The survey consists of a random sample of 4,000 Bahraini and non-Bahraini households throughout the Kingdom, focusing on men and women aged at least 18. 

About 40 researchers and field supervisors of the Health Ministry are involved for a period of five months from the date of launching the survey.
