Nasser 8: teams to take professionals
His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has directed to allow the teams participating in the upcoming Eighth Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Football Championship (Nasser 8), to include two professional players in each team’s lineup.
This was announced during the first preparatory meeting for Nasser 8 that was headed by Shaikh Nasser Media and Information Centre Head Tawfiq Al Salehi and attended by Bahrain Football Association (BFA) General Secretary Hassan Ismail and representatives of the participating teams in the championship.
In the meeting, it was also announced that the directives came to enhance the competition and technical levels of the championship.
Shaikh Nasser confirmed that it will support the sustainable development of the championship and attract Bahraini youth to take part and watch the matches in contributing to the success the championship.
During the meeting, Al Salehi conveyed Shaikh Nasser’s greetings to the attendees, pointing out that the championship was launched to give more Bahraini football talents an opportunity to perform at these championships and noted the successes of the previous seven editions.
Al Salehi explained that eight teams have qualified from Nasser 7, while eight other teams will represent sponsoring companies.
Negotiations are also ongoing to include sports such as basketball, volleyball and handball in enhancing the success of the championship and attract more spectators.
