Stongest Bahraini Man begins

Strongest Bahraini Man Championship 2018, which is held under the patronage of First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and Bahrain Athletic Association President HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, will start tomorrow. 

Organized by ‘Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa Initiatives,’ the championship is aimed at promoting the Bahraini youth and sports movement. The event is the first of its kind in the Kingdom will include four weight categories. 

“The event will also have four different categories of competitions, first is the basic competitions, second is the accompanying games, third is the kids games and fourth is photography contest,” he said. 

“We have a huge number of registrations. It was open to all to register, they just needed to be in good health. The competition allows the use of belt but does not allow lifting assistants.” he added. 

An event was held at Wyndham Grand hotel yesterday to explain the rules of the competition to contestants. 

Meanwhile, the revenues from the competition will go for supporting cancer patients. Humood Jassim, a cancer survivor who was at the event, applauded HH Shaikh Khalid’s decision to support cancer patients. 

“The cancer battle is a tough thing to go through. What got me through it is firstly my faith and family. Engaging in sports was also instrumental in helping me back to health. Sports has a great role to play in health so i am glad to be a supporter of competition such as this,” he said. 

The event will be held in Bahrain Bay from February 22 to 24.
