60 per cent progress in Riffa road revamp

ManamaRoads Projects and Maintenance Director of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Eng. Sayyed Bader Alawi stated that the Ministry has achieved 60 per cent progress in the revamp of roads in Block 911 in Riffa, which is part of the Villages & Old Districts Development Programme.

According to Alawi, a large part of the storm water drainage network work has completed, while the laying of the first asphalt layer has progressed by 55per cent. 

Lighting is also complete, and work is underway to complete the remainder of works and put in place the final asphalt layer in coordination with the contractor in charge and the related parties.

Alawi explained that the project would serve 227 housing units, in addition to 11 commercial shops. 

The  work includes revamping the main single roads on both directions, revamping the internal roads and alleyways in Block 911 in Riffa at a length of 13km, constructing a new storm water drainage network, implementing service channels for future usage, lighting, constructing speed humps and signage.
