Jasra interchange revamp project
Manama : The Jasra Interchange Revamp Project, now in Phase 2, has achieved 36 per cent progress, said Roads Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Huda Fakhro.
The BD1,637,400,000 project, funded by the Kuwaiti Development Fund, will boost Bahrain’s infrastructure development and improve the main highways in the Kingdom. The project, after completion of phase 2, will be capable of accommodating 10,000 vehicles and reduce waiting time by 45pc.
“As of now, 90,000 vehicles travel along the interchange on a daily basis and following the revamp, the interchange will be able to accommodate 120,000 vehicles/daily,” said Huda Fakhro.
The project is expected to provide non-stop traffic flow from Sheikh Isa bin Salman Highway on the East to the top of the flyover.
The traffic signals along the current interchange will also be removed to create free traffic flow from Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway to Wali Al Ahad Highway.
Work is currently progressing to protect the 400K/W ground cables and to install the side concrete barriers, prior to laying of the asphalt.
