No evidence university staff killed dogs: BSPCA
Manama : Despite rumours circulating online that several dogs were killed by university staff on the university premises, no evidence has been presented to BSPCA.
Rumours were rife that the university security guards killed the dogs. The messages posted on Facebook and social media claimed that the dogs were shot. Apparently, the guards were ordered to take the drastic step by university management who were concerned about the growing stray population at the university vicinity. However, no evidence was made public nor were they sent to BSPCA.
“No evidence was provided so far, if the dogs are all dead they could take pictures. No such pictures were provided. It started from a social media thread, the person who made the claims have not posted anything as proof,” a source from BSPCA said.
Animal welfare activist Tony Waters was one among those outraged by the rumoured killings of stray dogs. “Are we going to let this happen? The university campus people killed all the dogs! Now, securitymen have been instructed to kill all the cats!!” he commented on his Facebook page.
