Works Affairs gets ISO 9001:2015 certifications

Manama : The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning announced receiving the latest Quality System Certificate ISO 9001:2015 after successfully passing a detailed external audit of the quality control system, required for the renewal of the ISO Certificate.

Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf received the certificate from the external auditor and representative to AJA Europe Mobin Shaikh.

Ministry’s Works Affairs Undersecretary Ahmed Al Khayyat, the Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services Ebrahim AL Hawaj, Human Resources Director Mahmoud Abdul Rahim, Chief of Personnel Affairs Ahmed Ajaj and Head of Business Operation Engineering Group Noora Al Noami were present on the occasion.

In his comments, Works Affairs Undersecretary, Ahmed Al Khayyat, stated that the achievement comes because of the combined efforts and collaboration of all the involved sectors.

The external auditor amended the Ministry’s performance and its adherence to quality measures, explaining that the certificate honours commitment to quality standards and the ability to achieve sustainability when it comes to conformity to quality standards.

The auditing of the quality system is an intricate, complex and detailed procedure, which eventually indicated that the Ministry’s quality system conforms to global standards.

The update of the ISO certificate to the updated version ISO 9001:2015 is an indicator that the Works Affairs is in the right direction. In June 2010, the Works Affairs earned the Quality Management System Certificate ISO 9001:2008. In both 2011 and 2012, the Ministry managed to earn the ISO 9001:2008 Certification.
