Awan Warriors to face Intex Lions in BPL final

ManamaTwo semifinals matches were played yesterday in Coco Cola Bahrain Premier League (BPL), held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

In First semifinals played between Awan Warriors leading by Captain Qamar Saeed versus Bahrain Super Giants leading by Captain Deepak Nair, Awan Warriors beat Bahrain Super Giants by 4 runs.

Toss was won by Warriors and elected to bat first, Imran and Asim opened for Warriors. When both openers down for cheap runs, middle order batman Fais took the scoring responsibility.

Fais scored a brilliant half century includes four boundaries and two sixes with well supported by Malik with his 22 runs. At the end of 20 overs Warriors put fighting total of 144 at the board. Saqib and Jobby bagged two wickets each for Super Giants.

In second innings, Warrior bowlers gave a tough fight to Giants batsmen. They took the wickets of the top order for few runs. Imran bagged 3 wickets in his four over spell for just 15 runs did the damage for the Super Giants. 

Middle order batsman Shikdar billa fought from one end but other batsman failed to give a partnership with him. He scored 67 runs in 53 runs. When the match moved the last over Giants was required 14 runs, Sajid bowled the last over for Warriors and gave 9 runs and took one wicket.

In Second Semifinals played between Intex Lions leading by Captain Tahid Dar verus Four Square Challenger leading by Captain Omran Ghani, Intex Lions defeated Four Square Challenger by 7 wickets.

Toss was won by Challengers and elected to bat first, both openers went to pavilion without scoring runs.

Lions bowler Imran took three wickets in his four over spell for 27 runs. Imran was well supported by Babar who took 2 wickets, drag the Challengers to 135 runs at the end of 20 overs.

Thilna scored 37 runs for Challengers. Chasing the target, Faisal and Jiunaid gave a solid start to Lions and the momentum was carried by Prashanth, the leading run scorer in BPL.

Prashanth scored a match winning knock of 56 runs in 39 ball including ten boundaries helped Lions to reach the target in 18 overs with 3 wickets loss. 

The Final will be playing between Awan Warriors and Intex Lions on  16th  march at Isa Town Cricket Ground.
