Indian School wins badminton title
Manama : The Indian School was crowned champions of the badminton tournament, part of the ongoing Fifth School Mini Olympics.
The fifth edition of the Mini Olympics is being organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, with over 3,500 students from 58 government and private schools competing in a record 20 sports this year.
The Indian School took firm control of the badminton competition and captured 9 medals in total, including 4 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze.
Nithin Nahaz gave the Indian School its maiden gold medal in the sport, taking the secondary boys title, with Dale Andrei Bodota of the Sacred Heart coming second and Indian School’s Yejit Belman third.
Among girls, Rachel Jacob added another glory to the Indian School, winning the secondary stage competition’s gold medal. Sruthi Ananth of New Millennium School took the silver, while Indian School’s Samaara Harihar and Afra Arif Khan shared the bronze.
In the intermediate stage, Vimal Jaykumar and Aditya Sreekumar of Indian School were first and second among boys, respectively, while Indian School’s Keith Thomas and O.M. of New Millennium School sharing the third position.
The girls’ competition was won by Leanne Suneeth of New Millennium. She was followed by Indian School’s Parvathy Jaykumar, with third place shared by Sacred Heart’s Aleina Elizabeth Alex and Thanvi Jaeyshankar of New Millennium.
The Ajay Jaimy of Indian School topped the primary boys’ competition, edging Aniketh of New Millennium, who settled for the silver medal. Thomas Jacob and Rohan of Indian School and Sacred Heart were joint bronze medalists.
In the girls’ section, Sivani of Indian School won the gold medal, followed by joint third-placers Shania Angela Dantes of Sacred Heart and Sai Tapasya and Vritika of New Millennium.
Al Iman School notched the intermediate boys gold medal, beating Hawar School 5-1 in the final. Sacred Heart took the bronze medal with a 3-1 penalty shoot-out victory over the Indian School.
