75pc progress in Shaikh Abdullah Avenue revamp

ManamaRoads Projects & Maintenance Director at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Sayyed Bader Alawi has said that the Ministry has achieved 75 per cent progress in revamping Sheikh Abdulla Avenue, from Shaikh Hamad Avenue to Bab Al Bahrain Avenue. The project primarily serves Manama visitors and will hugely facilitate mobility in the area.

Alawi explained that the project would serve approximately 207 commercial shops. Deteriorated asphalt layers have been removed successfully, while brick has been laid, in addition to implementation of storm water drainage network and ground channels for present and future usage, construction of pavements and signage works. According to Alawi, the Ministry is presently constructing a number of parking spaces and speed humps and installing new light poles. The total length of revamped roads within the project is 1,650km. 

The BD179,330 project was earlier awarded to Bahrain Pipelines.
