Shaikh Nasser hails Rvia housing rehab programme
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO), visited yesterday Riffa Views School in response to an invitation HH received to view the “Rvia Housing Rehabilitation Programme”, an initiative launched by the School students as part of their volunteering work and charitable giving.
Launched last year, this pioneer programme aims to link education and learning with humanitarian action and to strengthen the bonds of the community and encourage society members to take part in volunteering initiatives.
During his visit, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad met with the students involved in the programme, who contributed to the renovation of old houses, where he discussed with them the programme and how it was introduced as well as the house selection mechanism.
On this occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa stressed the close links between education, learning and charitable and humanitarian work in order to crystallise distinctive ideas that contribute to strengthening social cohesion and make students the basis for humanitarian action.
Moreover, HH Shaikh Nasser underscored that volunteering is one of the most important areas in which students can develop themselves and their communities as well as build a long-lasting legacy that will contribute to the formation of a strong society based on compassion and cohesion among all.
“The Rvia Housing Rehabilitation Programme has gone beyond the traditional scope of charity work as it connects students through an extraordinary initiative that not only contribute to fundraising, but the involvement of students to visit the old houses and identify the residents’ social and economic situation,” HH Shaikh Nasser said, before expressing his appreciation to Riffa Views School students for the efforts they exerted in enhancing the spirit of volunteering and charitable work and their contribution to meet the needs of the less fortunate people.
It’s worth noting that the programme is supervised by students with the assistance of sponsors, where the students choose old houses and study the situation of the families who own the houses and their needs.
