200,000 watched Bahrain Premier League

Manama : Bahrain Premier League concluded as the most viewed cricket event in the Kingdom of Bahrain with over 200,000 audience tuning in to watch the finals of the first edition of the franchise based T20 cricket tournament. 

The event was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa by KHK Sports and Exelon.  The remarkable success prompted positive reactions from potential investors to focus on sports and entertainment industry in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Six teams were featured in the first edition of the event, backed by six major business houses. 

The organisers of Bahrain Premier League have pointed out that further developments will be facilitated in the Kingdom of Bahrain under KHK Sports and Exelon. 

Further editions of Bahrain Premier League will be announced in the coming days. The event marked the first initiative to feature franchise based T20 Cricket in Bahrain. 

The finals were telecasted across the internet with viewership reaching from the United Kingdom, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Mohammed Shahid, CEO of KHK Sports and President of Brave Combat Federation said, “A new era has been ushered in the Kingdom of Bahrain for the sport of cricket under the vision and leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The history of cricket is older than that of football in the Kingdom of Bahrain.” He mentioned that the first cricket match was played in Bahrain in the year 1932 between Royal British Air force and Royal British Navy in Muharraq and from “that point to this day, The Kingdom of Bahrain has a rich heritage when it comes to sports.”

“It is impressive to witness entertainment, culture and sports united in a single platform and bringing global attention towards Bahrain. This is the single largest event in the Kingdom of Bahrain that brought media and online attention to the Kingdom from the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the rest of the GCC,” he added.
